Welcome and please join us for frequent updates and glimpses into the formation and evolution of Devil Tree. Creative processes are by nature somewhat personal; making the personal public here is experimental and a risk we are more than willing to take. We want this journal to be a record of endeavor and progress, to provide what are hopefully interesting glimpses into the particular manner we attempt to create things. Our intent with Devil Tree is first and foremost to live the wonderful experience of jamming and making music that we enjoy playing. It is also our hope that our music will reach fruition as a shared vision each of us has. We definitely want imagery to be a part of our creative processes as well and this journal will give us a place to share our labors in creating something that engages and pleases eyes and ears, which is one intention of the making of art. Other intentions are purely personal. Ancient husbandmen, guided by animistic beliefs, used to purge and prune trees by beating them with sticks in an effort to drive forth evil spirits. Taking what's dark inside of you and giving it expression through music, painting, or other artistic mediums channels it out of you, robs it of it's isolating effects, and takes what otherwise makes you feel odd and alone and transforms it into a shared experience with others who understand what you are saying and are strengthened by that communion. Such is the power of music!
